Diagnostic Test Introduction
When you book your car for a service, we will connect your car to the Diagnostics Computer to see if there are any recorded problems. The diagnostic software accesses the car’s computer system where any problems are monitored and faults are logged. Performing a car diagnostic test can reveal a range of results associated with the car’s engine performance, ignition, fuel, exhaust system, turbo, and various other components of the car. Cars now come with computer processors, microchips and sensors which can be linked to the car's diagnostics computer scanner at the Certified Centurion Lake Auto Repair workshop.
How does the diagnostics test work?
The car diagnostics test is performed by certified technicians and takes the guess work out of repairing your vehicle.
When you start your car, the mechanic will perform a diagnostic test using the scan tool to determine any faults while the vehicle is running. When the auto-diagnostic test is complete, the vehicle's internal computer creates a list of items that needs attention.
The computer scans both the active and stored diagnostic codes in real time and generates a detailed report of the various components of the vehicle. This helps the technician to quickly get to the root of the problem and can pinpoint a possible malfunction with great detail and accuracy.
Advanced diagnostic codes can indicate a number of different types of problems, such as
- Possible problems with the airbags,
- Air conditioning,
- Worn brake pads and other brakes issues,
- Possible exhaust systems leaks and problems
- Fuel Injector or Spark Plug issues.
This list is quite extensive and varies greatly between basic and affordable Vehicle Makes and Models, to the most advanced of vehicles which could have an extensive and detailed diagnostics testing list.
